dims...yumm! (dimsum)

Hey GUYS!

Hope you're ready for DIMSUM =)For those of you who don't know what dim sum is...
Dim Sum (called "dim sum" in cantonese and "dian xin" in mandarin) is basically chinese appetizers which come around on carts. Items are typically served on small plates or small bamboo steamers and contain 3-4 pieces of whatever items you choose. The beauty of this is that you have the ability to try a lot of different dishes or just have a lot of variety in your meal!

Dim Sum will also be everyone's first chance to meet...YOUR FRESHMEN REPS!
See you guys there!

Calling All Freshmen!

If you're part of the class of '011 then this information is for you!

So you've come out to a few events and you've met all of us cool eboard members... what's the next step?

CSA Freshmen Representatives 2006-2007

Why and how to become a CSA Freshmen Representative:

If you're at all interested in becoming more involved with clubs at BC, our Freshmen Representative position is one of the best ways to start. As a Frosh Rep, you'll actually become a member of our eboard. What's an eboard? Well for starters it stands for Executive Board. Eboard is the group of students behind the scene who plans and organizes all the events that CSA holds and that you (hopefully) come out and attend!

Being Frosh Rep is a wonderful experience for any freshmen. You'll get to meet student leaders from all the other student organizations on campus and you will definitely build an extensive network of friends (if you haven't already). Also as a Frosh Rep you help carry out CSA's mission to educate the BC Community about Chinese, Chinese American, and Asian issues through cultural, social, and political events.

Each year, CSA selects four Frosh Reps through an interview process (semi-painless, we promise). So if you are at all interested (even if it's just a teeny-tiny bit of curiosity) please come to one of our 1st Round Group Interviews.

1st Round Interviews will be held at night on:
Tuesday October 9th
Wednesday October 10th

All you have to do to sign up is to email csa.eboard.0708@gmail.com with your NAME, EMAIL, CELL PHONE, and DORM PHONE by THIS THURSDAY October 4th at MIDNIGHT

Email us with any questions you might have.
Show us what you've got '011!!

Helloooo CSAers!

I'm Angel, the webmistress, I'm in charge of creating and maintaining the CSA website. If I haven't met you yet please introduce yourself! I can't guarantee that I'll remember you the first time but I will remember you...eventually.

To everyone who came out to our Freshmen Welcome, a big thank you! It was great to see such a huge turnout for a first event. But that was only the beginning and we've definitely got bigger and better things planned for the year. Such as...

CSA and VSA proudly present...

AUTUMN MOON FESTIVAL

Our co-sponsored event with the Vietnamese Students' Association will be held this Wednesday 9.26.07 in Edmonds 1st Floor Lounge at 6pm!!! and includes storytelling, free mooncakes and green tea, and best of all...lantern making! We'll teach you everything you need to know, so don't worry if you're bad at arts and crafts.

DO PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS BLOG??

We should definitely pub this blog during our first gen!!!!!! it looks like you guys are all writing to the members as our audience which is great, but i don't know if many know this blog exist.......
meeehh..also do i get a notification in my email when someone comments my blog?? 'cause that would be really helpful

CSA Newsletter

wow so I successfully logged in my gmail account! (short-term loss of memory of my password) and feels great to write on this blog!!

A NYTimes Op-Ed article caught my eyes today, it's called "Cleaning Up China," an article arguing the Chinese government has been focusing just on industrial growth and ignored the environmental issues that comes along with the boom. So I went on the Times website to check if there are more resources, and THERE WERE!!!!! yes yes yes, I now am going to go through about 130 word document pages of information and hopefully by this weekend during our meeting I will hand you guys an compressed, one page summary of what's going on. Hence the first general topic I would recommend to have in our October Newsletter.
